1960 Ferreira Vintage Port

Post by John M. »

3 Hour decant. The wine is crystal clear with a clear rim golden highlights running to a dark burnt brick orange; it shimmers. Bountiful nose of floral perfume (rose perhaps) with a hint of plum. There is a light allspice element to start that also suggests cinnamon; light mouth feel. Some strawberry here as well. Mid palate other flavors emerge, vanilla, sweet leather an earthiness of black truffle. Long finish, picked up hints of butterscotch and a touch of tawny. The mid palate flavors come through again. This port had everything working, one of the loveliest ports to look at with a generous bouquet and many different flavors as well. Just superb.
