Place: Folkestedet, Århus Portwineclub Vintage in 3 decades.
Condition:
Decanted 10 hours beforehand. The cork crumbled completely for me and I had to filter it unfortunately
Served 15 minutes post fridge as the tasting room was extremely hot at 25+ degrees Celsius and in the second flight of 2.
Note:
Translucent rim with a red / black center. A interesting salty scent. On the palate lots of acidity and flowery notes. This vintage keeps surprising me and is forcing me to take a hard look at how to include this exciting wines into my regiment.

Thanks for the impression. Next year we need to get a 1997 tasting set up to see how they are turning out once they hit 20 years old. Will be very educational to see which are maturing faster than others.

I agree, '97 hasn't gotten much love lately and 20 years is always a good time to start having a more informed, broad based opinion.

Right, that is a good reason to do a horizontal. I don't know what it is about this vintage that is swaying me over. But I am starting to get really fond of it and quickly. It is a bit quirky and not like the other vintages around it 1994, 2000 and 2003. I've only had the Dow's and the Graham's so far, but I will want to try out some other houses as well to see if the trend continues.Andy Velebil wrote:Thanks for the impression. Where's our 1997 horizontal planner? I love the Vesuvio, but I have 16 other labels in case someone else had that one covered.

Haven't been to Denmark in about 20 years. But Colorado is a whole lot easier and quicker to get toThomas V wrote:My thread, I get to pick the place.
