Condition:
Decanted 5-6 hours before and drunk over 2 hours
Note:
On the nose far more appealing in the decanter than in the glass for some reason. Fragrance of fresh figs, preserved fruits and a slight hint of animalistic notes.
The colour is very developed for a 31 year old vintage. Looks more like a 30YO tawny. Full transparency with a golden amber colour.
The fruit has been fully integrated into the wine and the tannins are subdued. There is still a nice amount of acidity to counterbalance the sweetness. The viscosity is good at a medium+ body and the Ferreira has a smooth mouth feel.
I find hints of cardamom, fig juice and floral notes. A little heat on the after taste which is pleasant and long. This is a very elegant wine and has a subtle characteristic that is lovely. This is drinking very very well at the moment.
