1963 Graham Vintage Port

Post by Eric Ifune »

Oporto bottled. Opened with little difficulty with the Durand. Decanted off of some pretty heavy, chunky sediment. So chunky that it made decanting a breeze.
Very pale, rose-tawny. The paleness was alarming it was so light, but one sniff and all was right in the universe.
Wonderful aromas both secondary and tertiary. Plum, spice, herbs. A hint of toffee. No VA whatsoever. Very clean and complex.
The paleness belies the intensity of flavors. Lots of fruit. Plum, quince, spicecake. Medium bodied. Sweet but good acidity balances. I think the balance is what I like the most. Long finish, almost savory with tons of umami. This improved throughout the evening.
96+ Points. I think this is the best showing I've ever had. This is now my highest ranked Port of the year.
