2000 Vintage Sandeman

Post by Russ K »

decanted and enjoyed over three or four hours, almost no sediment came out with the juice, but washing the bottle out for a double decant produced a ton, so it was quite caked at the bottom. Still blood red with just a touch of orange in the rim, strawberry on the nose but also a touch hot. smooth and a touch watery on entry until mid palate you start to get the grip and viscosity developing on the tongue and ends with a long spicy finish. Not a lot of nuance, but the peppery spice finish goes and goes. I think this has a lot of years left in it. Really enjoyed this. In cellar tracker I gave it a 91, but an hour or two later here I think it deserves more. Drinking very well but I think peak could be ten years out yet.

91+
