1997 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind. Has a fruity, berry aroma, with some orange blossom and alcohol warmth. More refreshing fruit than the wine that followed (1997 Noval Silval), with peach, strawberry, red currant, and possibly lingonberry. There is orange and lemon acidity. Long finish with sweetness--not warm. 94 points.

I scored it 94-95 points back in 2013, 94 here. I like when that happens, in particular in a blind tasting. Yeah, no mention of peach in the earlier TN. I don't recall how strong that was--it might have been pretty subtle.

I had a bottle of this earlier this summer...also 94 points. No peach but a lovely Port with some years to go.
Any Port in a storm!
