What do you drink when it's hot?

Post by Rich Greenberg »

Hey, all. I've been gone for a bit closing out a fiscal year (salesguy), on vacation, and attending a global sales conference. Finally have been able to breathe a bit the last week or so, and as I sit here sweating and reading FTLOP for the first time in a while, I thought I'd ask:

What do y'all tend to drink (adult beverages) when the weather is hot?

I tend toward iced cocktails, bourbon, or white wines with just the right chill on them. I find that I don't enjoy port much when it is hot.....

Thoughts?

Hmmm, I live in Alaska and have to travel "outside" to get any realy heat of summer- so red wine and Port are fine all year round up here. But I did just venture down to the desert of Nevada to visit friends and attend Burningman. It was ice cold cheap canned beer all around for me in 100 F weather.

I tend to drink younger SQVPs that are still very fruity and simply chill these in the fridge. They come out cool and refreshing and its quite good fun to see how they change in characteristics as they warm up.

It was a pretty hot day in the house yesterday, so I tried some Taylor's LBV chilled in the fridge. A bit cold, but swirling it and allowing it to warm up a couple of degrees it was still very cool and nice. Refreshing.

I lean towards white wine, cold beers or a nice bottle of Moscato d'Asti in the garden when it's hot.

On hot days I prefer Champagne, Kir (royal) or Sauvignon blanc. But then, when is it really hot in the Netherlands??
At this moment I,m drinking a slightly chilled tawny (Krohn Colheita 1994).
Not bad, not bad at all!
