Updating Profile Update

Post by Guest »

After much patience, I'm happy to announce that we will be performing an upgrade to the profile section of the site in a little over a week.

Many of the most pesky issues and most frequent requests are addressed in this alpha release (alpha mean there may still be some bugs, so please let me know if you run into anything unusually quirky).

Below is a sample screenshot of what the profile section will look like (or at least similar to). It will provide you with more fields that you can easily edit, including the signature field for your forum posts.

I'll post again when this change has been implemented.

Thanks
Stewart

Post by Guest »

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'll be installing the profile component referenced above this weekend.

If you experience any strange behavior from the site, please let me know by emailing [email protected].

Thanks

Thanks everyone for their patience while we performed the upgrade. We are still tweaking some of the code, but it should not affect the forum's accessibility.

I'll post here when everything is all configured and ready to go.

Just a quick question...

I did upload my image in my profile. Now how do I link this image to my avatar on the forum? Can't seem to find how

We haven't finished linking the functionality between the new profile section and the forum, so please be patient while we finish the last couple of things on our profile "to-do" list :)

Ok thank you. I was starting to feel a bit stupid seeing others had already put theirs online :) I'll be patient and I'll wait for the next update.

Avatar Fixed - How to Upload

Post by Guest »

To update your avatar (profile picture), follow these steps:

Prepare your image.
1. Select an image that you want to use for your avatar.
2. Preferable the image is of you, perhaps engaged in some wine activity
3. Crop your image if there is lots of extra "dead space" around your subject.
4. Resize your image to no larger than 200 pixels wide.
5. You can do both 3 & 4 above on the web at:
http://www.resizr.com/

Upload your image
1. Log into For The Love Of Port on the home page.
2. Under the "User Menu" on the left side, click "User Profile"
3. On the User Profile page, Hover Over the small grey button on the upper left - that will open a menu
5. Select "Update Your Image" (You can also remove an image here)
6. Click "Browse" to find your image
7. Click "Upload" and your image will appear here and on all your Forum posts.

Let me know if anyone has problems!

Hey. I've got an avatar now.

Thanks Stewart. Now I just have to get Elizabeth to take a picture of my holding that Nacional '63 that Linden served....

Yippee!

I'm guessing this is very old. Is it correct that there's no built in image hosting on the site currently?

Yes, that's very old. :)

However, we do host avatars if that's what you're looking to add. It's in the User Control Panel under Profile and then Edit Avatar. Note that there's a pretty strict size limit - 80 x 80 pixels.
