Automatic Login

Post by Frederick Blais »

At home, everything is fine as I use Firefox. Though my 2 previous job are imposing me the use of MS IE 6-7. The problem I have with those is the persistant login of the forum.

Everytime I close the forum, I lost my username/pass login with it, though I'm still logged on the mainpage. So I have to do a loggoff and loggin again to access the forum page.

I know it can be a tricky issue with browsers and PHPBB. My suggestion would be to encrypt the user/pass in the URL you send to us with the "Topic Reply Notification". This way you can log the user in as he click on the URL.

At the moment, I have to click on the URL, go to home page to make my login, go back to forum and find the topic to reply to. Any IE use have the same problem?

Yes, I'm having exactly the same problem.

It wouldn't be that bad, except that for some reason after I have re-logged in from the main page the site loses my "new messages" status - everything is already marked as read.

Same for me. It works fine from AOL but not IE.

Weird!

For me it works from IE but not AOL. Stewart is looking into this!

Ghost in the machine

Post by Stewart T. »

We have a ghost in the machine that we are trying to track down.

We are going to be updating the forum software in the near future to the newest version, so either way (finding the ghost or upgrading the system) we'll get the problem resolved as quickly as we can.

Thanks for your patience!
