Quinta do Vale Dona Maria Vintage Port

Post by Ronald Wortel »

A beautiful wine, graciously ageing, but still so young at 10 years of age. Great nose, very fresh with mineral notes, sweet amarone cherries, and sweet spice. Ripe, red cherries on the palate, with clove, cinnamon, and cedar showing the well integrated oak. Some tobacco and a nice, minty freshness. Beautifully balanced. Still quite tight and firm, and although the tannins are fine grained, they are still very much present. Impressive showing. 94 points.

I had the 2000 and 2001 side-by-side earlier in the year and liked 'em both a LOT. The 2001 is really singing and has beautiful and fresh fruit whereas the 2000 was far more earthy. Just my :twocents:
