2010 Niepoort Douro Redoma Branco Reserva - Portugal, Douro (4/9/2013)
-- popped and poured --
-- tasted non-blind over 24 hours --

NOSE: powdery; light pear note; medium-light expressiveness; light oak.

BODY: pale green-tinged yellow color; no spritz; light to medium-light bodied.

TASTE: loads of mineral and high acidity; powdery; green grapes and gooseberries; light oak; smoky mineral on the finish, which is of medium length and moderate intensity; lots of acid and mineral; hint of matchstick; 13.5% alc. not noticeable; moderately complex; I’d be curious to see this with some age on it. Excellent.

B: 50, 5, 12, 17, 8 = (92 pts.)

They really do need a half decade to real strut their stuff. The 2005 and 2006 right now are showing brilliantly, although the former is the greatest version ever in my opinion. It will be amazing in 2015-2018, when it is at peak. I like the 2008 and 2009 too and they're actually a closer pairing, even though they are still quite different animals. The 2010 has fine upward potential but needs lots more time to flesh out and lose some of its baby fat.

Nice! Glad to hear this bottling does, indeed, take well to ageing. [cheers.gif]
