Quinta Nova (of Amorim cork fame company) is producing some lovely reds, have posted previous notes here in the past.
WTN: 2010 Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Colheita, Douro.
13% alc, $25 Cdn, naturally a good looking cork (!), decanted one hour, no oak, blend of T Nacional, Franco, Roriz and Cao.
C. Medium depth of color here..light ruby purple.
N. Dried cherries, spice, plum, very attractive.
P. Initial entry thought is dry, smooth integrated soft tannins. Some nice ripe fruit developes, also some spice and hint of chocolate. Big structure for a non-oaked red here. Very focused, medium to full bodied, filled out nicely on day 2, earth tones on finish, think more polished if left in cellar for a few years.
Don`t miss out on this Douro red!
