2000 Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinha da Ponte - Portugal, Douro (7/25/2013)
A perfect cork. Strong ruby color. Interesting nose - I get a hint of stone fruit. Dried cherry palate. Some complexity. Medium to full bodied. No oak showing at all. The acidity is very good with it lifting up at the finish in waves. Med. length finish. Not overripe at all and very well made. "Squeeky clean". Some very tannins start to come out after being open for 1.5 hours. My only complaint is that it is a bit monolithic and lacks the complexity of the great years that followed it such as 2004 and 2007. But still a great second effort! Absolutey ready to drink. Drink now through 2019. (92 pts.)
