I have never seen a Douro wine this old from this Quinta. I didn't even know they commercially sold one back then. A light amount of stewed fruit on the nose. A touch of oxidation and very acidic. Dried cherries, still tannic, more cherries on a drying palate. This picked up some body with air and the finish lengthened as well bringing forth more cherries. Fully mature, or just past, this was a surprise of the evening. The only quip was it was lacking a little in complexity but otherwise an enjoyable old school Douro red. Oh, I should mention it was only 11.5% ABV.

Andy Velebil Good wine is a good familiar creature if it be well used. William Shakespeare http://www.fortheloveofport.com
