Like the 2007 Pintas Character, the 2006 vintage is down four points from four years ago. Since two Pintas Character vintages are dropping after abt 8 – 9 years is maybe indicating that this wine should be consumed before reaching that age. The Pintas Douro red is a different story!!
3 hrs decanting. Deep dark red colour. Aroma is very nice and showing subdued well integrated aroma of oak, fruit and a touch of floral. Full body. Quite smooth at start, also powerful from start. Quite rough tannins, a lot of berries and minerals, quite dry. Too much acidity towards the end. Not so well structured in the end. Medium to long aftertaste. 88 pts.
