TN: 1985 Caves Sao Joao Porta Dos Cavaleiros Dao

Post by Andy Velebil »

From the Dao region, a blend of a variety of grapes. A nose filled with smoke, forest scents, and some barnyard. On the palate it took about 20-30 minutes for it to start getting its legs and gain complexity and body. Iodine, mushrooms, earthy, flavors were covered in some slight obtrusive tannins that softened as time went on. Dried cherries and spices subtly linger in the background and come out a bit more in the moderate finish. I would recommend pairing this with a tender Prime steak. Drink within the next couple of years.
