TN: Villa Oeiras Carcavelos (Branco) Cask Sample

Post by Eric Menchen »

This is not a Portugese table wine, but not a Port or Madeira either, so this seems the best place for this note.

Cask sample of the the 2014 blended and fortified white wine, with no barrel age, just stainless steel.

Aroma shows lots of pear, apple, spice, very ripe pear, and a floral character too. This is definitely sweet in the mouth, with lots of acid too, and strong warmth on a fairly short finish. After that, it shows quite intense, with a little longer finish. Later, there is just more overripe pear, and brown pear skin. There is candied fruit too. The color is extremely pale, about 1-2 SRM.
