TN: 2011 Casa Ferreirinha Quinta da Leda Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

In general my wife and I are big fans of Quinta da Leda Douro reds. Have managed to find the famous 2011 bottles and purchased quite a few. Decided to test one before we will let them stay untouched for some years.

2 hrs decanting, which is on the low side. Further bottles must be minimum 3 hrs, preferably more. Deep dark purple red colour. Aroma of old wet cellar together with the famous Douro-combination fruit/oak/minerals. Full body. Fantastic combination of power and elegance, just the way I want it. Also the Douro minerals/berries/oak in very nice harmony. Nice acidity level. Complex aftertaste that was expected to last a bit longer. I am sure this Douro red will have higher scores later in this decade. 94 pts.

Yes a long long decant really helps this beauty to show its best.
