Whew! That's a hell of a subject line!
Opened (but not decanted) 1 hour.
Beautiful deep opaque color in the glass. No bricking, and as deep as can be expected from a wine that has lost the purple tinge of youth.
Nose is surprisingly limited. I'd expect a big nose from a wine of this age and color, but it was not to be. Still, notable deep soy sauce, blackberry and Worcestershire sauce on the nose.
While the nose was a bit shy, the palate is wonderful and not bashful at all. The front end is full of black and raspberry, with more mature soy and worchestershire in the middle and lingering mildly grainy tannins with some umami, damp forest floor and raspberry again on the close. This is a really wonderful wine in a great place (perfect for my generally younger skewing tastes), even if the bottle is inconveniently tall, haha. Other than that, a great bottle from a previous FTLOP buyers op.
