TN: 2009 Alves de Sousa Quinta da Gaivosa Douro red

This is my third vintage (2003, 2005 and 2009) of this interesting, but demanding Douro red.
Decanted 3.5 hrs (needed). Quite dark red colour with a tiny touch of brown. Wonderful aroma of berries, oak and minerals, especially the latter. Smooth and powerful taste. Minerals being quite distinct on the palate, nicely mixed with berries and oak. Well balanced. A lot of power, minerals and depth. Long aftertaste. 92 pts.
