2012 Quinta do Vallado
Tonight my wife and I compared the 2012 Quiinta do Vallado Tinto to the 2012 (old vine) Field Blend Reserva. We liked both, as the Douro character was exuberant and the wines showed really well at this point -- with an hour decant and two hour decant respectively. The Reserva was far more layered, but I'd drink either of these any night of the week. Very solid and Vallado must be taken seriously in the top tier of Douro wine producers along with Niepoort, Crasto, Vale Meao, Vale d. Maria, SFE and Casa Ferreirinha.
