1995 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port

Post by Kurt Wieneke »

In the decanter this has an alluring nose of ripe plums, black licorice, and sassafras. As the evening rolls around, a glass is poured. The nose has some dark chocolate and briar now, and on the palate there is dark cherries
and plum skin followed by firm, gripping tannins. The long finish is most impressive. Rumors of the '95 Fonseca's death have been greatly exaggerated - this could in fact go much longer in the cellar and be better off for it.

I've had this one twice this year and both bottles showed very well. I still have 7 bottles to go and plan to open them at least over the next five to ten years or so.
