1945 Croft Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

1945 Croft Vintage Port (8/27/2015)
Oporto bottled, lovely brown glass bottle, fill into neck. 8 hours in open bottle, then 3 hours in decanter. Incredibly youthful ruby color in the decanter, medium depth. With time in the glass, this shed much of its fumy alcohol, revealing beautiful bright red fruit. Amazingly primary. The fruit still has the upper hand on the palate, with undertones of cinnamon and prune the only signs of maturity. Lightly lingering sweet and balanced finish. This just lacks a bit of depth, or it would rival the best bottles of Taylor from this same vintage. (95 pts.)

Love this Port, one of the all time greats IMO.
