1995 Krohn Colheita

Post by Edward J »

We opened this last night about an hour before pouring. Tawny in appearance and starting to show some age. Roasted chestnuts on the nose along with citrus. Right up front there is a lot of fruit that reminded me of Mandarin oranges. The smoothness of the wood aging is pleasant and some butterscotch in the backround. It is still a bit rough into the transition to the finish, which is very nice long and lingering with just the right amount of heat.

After it lost out last night to the 95 S-W Madalena, I had to revisit it today and update my notes. Wood aged for 15 years and bottled in 2011, $29.95 at Premier Cru. Still a bit of an awkward head to the finish, but ends strong. I would try another bottling of this after a few more years in the wood. 89pts
