I opened a 10 year tonight to sip during the Carolina-New Orleans game. WOW! This is no ordinary 10 year tawny. Thanks again for such a great opportunity at such an incredible price. I can't wait to move up the age brackets and sample all of the offering.

Mark,

Glad you are enjoying the 10. My brother recently tried it for the first time and commented that he thought it was as good as many if not most other company's 20 year old Tawny Ports.

Is the 60 year old supposed to come in some special box?

Mine did not either, but then I saw the pic of Miguel with the 60 year old in the fancy box and was curious.

The buying op "60" bottles were 750ml. The regular bottles you can buy now at retail get a fancy box, but only 500ml.

I have a fun video that is in the upcoming newsletter. In fact the newsletter is going to be well over 100 pages. Unfortunately it will be done this weekend, but Stewart won't be back until just before Christmas, so every one will receive it right at the holidays and have a chance to read it between Christmas and New Years. The next buyer's opportunity is in this upcoming newsletter with some really sweet prices on some excellent bottles. Save some of your hard earned cash as this is worthy!

Really wish I'd bought more of it during the op, but I was unemployed (briefly) at the time and wasn't sure when I'd have another full time position. So I "only" bought 8 (and 2 of the "100")... I'd have probably bought 2 cases if I'd had a steady income at the time.

At least you did take part, having sampled the quality. I passed having never tried them, and generally being more VP than tawny focused, but having had the fortunate opportunity to try 10,20,30,40,100 in October, I am now envious of you guys and would most definitely have joined in with the knowledge I have now.

Will the next OP be US only, or Europe too this time, do we know? (I realise you had low/no UK take-up last time, though I think more across Europe)

SPOILER ALERT: Please no specifics on which wines, producer or pricing ... use generalities! :scholar:

So how did you like the offer over all?

What would you like to see next?

I missed out on the the previous buy up unfortunetly and since the current has US shipping only I didn't join in.

I am keen to join the next OP when it will reach us and am crossing fingers for international shipping.

If the timing matches it could be very interesting with an Buy Op that would allow pre purchase of 2015 vintage ports pending declaration naturally. Ones that you might be able to taste in April 2017 or earlier and find promising and worthy of a FTLOP Buy Up. Might be a SFE, Fladgate or Sogevinus theme? Just a thought.

Else it would be great with an vintage Buy Up from the 80's or 90's in the meantime.

Thomas,

I have no way to compete with those who would be first to import the 2015 Vintage Ports when they are declared, bottled and ready to ship.

That being said, the buying ops are almost impossible to arrange for outside of the USA. Maybe 10% of all ops have had the possibility for outside of USA influence. ONLY Producer-direct would enable that and those ops don't come along too often where they are willing to ship directly to consumers or through to their agents in other countries that would then do the shipping.
