1960 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Kinlock bottling. Tasted blind. Nice clarity with faint garnet hue, tending to a little more orange. Refreshing floral notes in the aroma, with strawberry, raspberry, and salted caramel; a promising mélange. Definitely well developed, could be 1960 or earlier, but showing its age very well. Really nice integration in the mouth. Sweet in the finish (too much for some people?), but flavor has a nice tangerine acidity to balance the sweetness. Later there were some spice aromas and flavors too. 92+ points. Guessed to be 1960 Noval. Full disclosure: This was tasted blind in a lineup of twelve bottles, but I knew the 1960 Noval was in the mix.
