Just opened a bottle of Horácio Simões Moscatel Roxo Single Cask.
The bottle states it tends to create sediment. No kidding. The wine is a dark reddish brown, cloudy with sediment, and the bottle has a substantial amount of chunky sediment at the bottom. Drinks like maple syrup. Mild acidity comes in late and builds through the finish. Unbalanced towards sweet, but what a rich mouthful! My knowledge of Portuguese Moscatel is limited, so I won't attempt to score this yet. Will do a full review as I get into the bottle.
Question(s): Does anyone know much about this bottling? How old? Process particulars?
Thx!
