Which Port for American Independence Day (July 4th)?
Which port would be appropriate for the 4th of July? Any particular producer, vintage,or combo?
What do you have lined up if any?

Since one of the founding fathers was Thomas Jefferson and as a bonus he was a huge wine fan. Just look at his many awesome quotes
Me being named Thomas has nothing to do with that
It would be fitting to have a port made by another Thomas aka Tomás Roquette from Quinta do CrastoWine … the true old man’s milk and restorative cordial.

Madeira is most appropriate
Served to toast the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Yeah the most appropriate toast would be Madeira, but if a Port is desired perhaps one of the brands created specifically for the US market like Porto Rocha or Presidential?

I have a few bottles of '94 Presidential which in the last year has started to turn into something. Tasted like a joke for a while, but now I want to ease up on drinking them down so casually.
I am leaning towards '70 Graham or '66 Croft. Guest coming over tomorrow and I think he'll dig either one.

Not particularly thematic, but just decanted 2015 Dow Porto Vintage Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira.

I’ve opened a bottle I’ve never had before. 1970 Dalva VP.
Will report back after tasting it.

Wow, never had that either. Was it labeled Dalva or Presidential?Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:13 pm I’ve opened a bottle I’ve never had before. 1970 Dalva VP.

We ended up with a '70 Graham that was solid. Not my favorite of the vintage, but not one to turn my nose at either.
