1977 Delaforce VP. It’s, uh, pleasant. Past it’s best, drink up if you own them.

I've had this six times over the past twelve years - the early notes are poor, but the trend has been upward. My last note from April '17 reads 'light and slightly sweet - very fine drinking' It's dotage looks much better than it's 'best'!

1977 Gould Campbell. Finally, a G.C. that wasn't flawed. It was good, but I prefer the '77 Smith Woodhouse.

I also opened a Quinta da Pacheca 40 y.o. Tawny. It was a little varnishy on the first night, but over the past few days it's opened up.
Great acidity and some nice maple and citrus flavors. I prefer the 20 y.o. over this, but nonetheless, this is good. One glass left for after
dinner tomorrow.

You just need to drink more Port.

Yesterday was an '80 Warre & '80 Graham. I was hotter on the '80 vintage than am now. The Warre is "good" at first and went downhill to decent. Graham was much more of port. Warre's elegance fell flat after a bit. Had more fruit to it than the Graham.

1985 Barros VP, pop and pour a small glass for the Wines of Portugal fado concert with Gisela João. I'm going to let it sit in the decanter until this evening for more. Hopefully it will gain some weight.

I love how Tom has to add this caveat because he also drinks a bit of Port with others!

Pocas 30 year old Tawny. 94 pts.
I think Pocas Colheitas and TWAIOA are very underrated. They're relatively inexpensive compared to their peers and punch above their weight.

We opened a bottle of S. Leonardo 40yo Tawny after our Christmas meal, outstanding stuff. Just my parents, SO, and I so there's enough left for another couple of sessions through the winter!
