NV S. Leonardo 10 Year Old White Port
Love these. They're a tiny bit bolder than Lamelas or DR.

I love the fact we’re all different. I prefer the Lamelas 10YO White because it’s slightly sweeter than the Mourão and a little more dried mango fruit. I was brought up on dried mango as a snack so just adore anything like that.

I'm honestly not sure which of the three is my favorite - I love them all - but I agree with your description. In addition to the Lamelas showing more mango, I think that the DR has a little more light caramel to it than the other two and probably sits between them on the sweetness scale.

Pocas 30 year-old tawny. These are so good and relatively inexpensive compared to other 30 year-old tawnies. They real sing after a day in the decanter.

1997 Vesuvio VP. Decent; nothing too special. I wish the Vesuvio's lived up their packaging. A decent port in superlative packaging.

Exactly, they come in cool packaging, but the port itself is middle of the road.Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:57 pmHuh? I have loved the 1997. Others have raved about the 1998, but that one I've found to be middle of the road. To each his own I guess.Moses Botbol wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 4:51 am Exactly, they come in cool packaging, but the port itself is middle of the road.

Haven't tried many, but I found 1994 to be a good one.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Actually, it was '98 that I recently had. They all look the same lol. Maybe the Vesuvio profile has fallen out of favor with me a little?Eric Menchen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 9:05 amI have loved the 1997. Re: What have you opened this week?
Look if it comes in a cool package it has to be great all the time. Come man, get with it.

In Moses' defense, the '98 was my least favorite of '94 through '98 that we tasted at Stewart's in October of 2020.Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 1:38 pm Look if it comes in a cool package it has to be great all the time. Come man, get with it.
Not sure 93 points counts as "middle of the road" though...

1998 Cockburn’s Quinta Dos Canais VP. Only two bottles left out of 2 dozen. It’s been a lovely house VP.

Brunheda 40 year old from a couple of years ago.
Re: What have you opened this week?
Fonseca Crusted, bottled in 2001. A bottle I bought from a local wine store in 2007 and which had been sitting in my cellar ever since. It was well worth the wait. Medium bodied but so round and smooth, generous fruit but the complexity Vintage Port develops with a little age.
