Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Just ordered my second batch. This batch includes a tregnum! So I now have 12 bottles and 1 tregnum headed for my storage facility in London.
Retail price in the US looks like it has jumped from $225/bottle to $550! It looks to me like the retail price in the UK jumped from 150 GBP to maybe 200? Given the exchange rate, that makes it significantly cheaper to buy in the UK (in bond) and then pay to air ship/overnight it to the US. Which is kind of crazy, but that's usually about $300 - $350 per case so only adds $25 or $30 to the bottle price. I have a shipper that I've worked with many times in the past, and they handle all of the duties and import fees and deliver it right to my door.
I'll probably still get... 3 more bottles? I want those to have here in the US for the verticals that I do every time they have a new release.

Hahaha---really?? 23 and 31 year old Colheitas are about the same age. And I do love the contrast of single versus blend.Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:11 pmThat should be fun. And a couple ringers, you’re mean hahahaJohn M. wrote:For a Port Club Meeting

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Sure, but they're Colheitas. My rule of thumb is that a Colheita needs to be about 10 years older than the number on a blend in order to feel like it is the same age. So that 31-year old Pocas Colheita might blend into the lineup very nicely, but at least for me the 23-year old Crasto will likely feel younger than everything else. It will be interesting to see what your group thinks!John M. wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 4:50 amHahaha---really?? 23 and 31 year old Colheitas are about the same age. This month's bargains,
2016 Noble & Murat VP
2014 Noble & Murat LBV (very rare in the states I believe)
2014 Sandeman LBV
2000 Q. do Infantado LBV (dirt cheap and rare, save this for a horizontal probably)
2001 Quinta Vale D. Maria Sarzedinho VP x2 (3 bottles left on WB right now, watched this gradually fall from $35 to $20 now)
2014 Q. do Vale d. Maria Reserva Lote 14 (I loved the 18 so have to try this one, I also saw a AB note from the 06 saying it was declassified VP into ruby reserve. Didn't know that was a thing.)

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
1 x Quinta do Mourao San Leonardo 40 y.o. Tawny
I bought this one as a replacement of the one I just shared with my college buddies a few weeks back.
It was a 2009 bottling, but the price on WineBid was hard to beat at $113 including bid fees and taxes.

2009 should be one of the "good" ones. Those Ports dropped off a bit in the mid 20-teens. They've come back up since, but the old ones (pre circa 2014) are still the best.Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:30 am 1 x Quinta do Mourao San Leonardo 40 y.o. Tawny

Warre's Otima 20, for viewtopic.php?t=45533
Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Cool, I could certainly bring the Croft. That's the only 90s LBV I have atm.
Let me know two weeks ahead of time because they're still at auction storage.
