I've heard much debate about what was the first LBV. Now we have a single quinta LBV from Graham's, so I suspect some sleuth will dig up an earlier version. But this is the first I can recall.

Have you seen pricing on it Eric? I assume it'll be at a premium price to most LBV's. My guess is $40 in the U.S.

Quinta do Noval have occasionally been releasing a single Quinta LBV for some years, alongside the version made with grapes bought in.

Crasto’s LBVs are obviously single Quinta, as are Devesa’a and a host of other, smaller producers with just one property.

But Graham’s have made a nice publicity splash about theirs.

That would be consistent with their regular LBV which has been filtered at least for the past 25 years (or more). Same with the Dow's & Cockburn's. I think the Symington's Warre's is their only unfiltered LBV. Someone with more knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Yes, it typically has been. I didn't bring it up because I don't think it is an "active" product. We can only hope.

Grahams LBV is very lightly filtered. It will throw sediment if left long enough.

Slightly confusingly, Warre make both a filtered and an unfiltered/ bottle matured LBV. Both are good, but the bottle matured version is a proper, serious Port which can mature for 20+ years.

There are dozens of SQLBVs and Alex B. already expressed this admirably. Why this Graham's is anything special, or more than just a nice marketing strategy is anyone's guess. I generally prefer some of the other Symington LBVs, always in the past, Smith Woodhouse, unfiltered, and Dow's which were typically filtered, but on rare occasions released Unfiltered LBVs too.
