Kopke 30 Year Old White Port (b. 2016)
Stewart opened a 1995 Kopke Colheita so we got to compare a couple of wood-aged Ports of a similar age. The white was livelier and a bit of a party in the mouth, while the Colheita was a bigger, deeper, and more complex wine. But IIRC we all liked the white better in the end.

2009 Niepoort Colheita. Nice change of pace for us. Needed several days to show off its best.

1985 Croft en magnum. Clean, but still too young.

2004 Maynard's White Colheita (bot. 2022). It's on the drier side, but still nice. Unique.

DR Very Old White Port (b. 2018)
This was their 50 before 50 was a category. I like it better than their official 50, but of course it's no longer available. Paired very well with Asian Fusion cuisine at Wild Ginger last night.

1964 Noval Colheita (b. 2006)
One from my birth year stash. There are a handful of very good Colheitas from 1964, but I think this one may be the best. It's really too bad that they haven't bottled it again since 2006... I hope that doesn't mean that it's all gone!

I also have a couple of these left. I believe they still have more at the Quinta. So keep your fingers crossed.Glenn E. wrote:1964 Noval Colheita (b. 2006)

I also have 2 bottles left from an original purchase of 3 (bot. 2006 as well). I had the first bottle back in 2024 and it showed very nicely although it was up against some stiff competition in a casual tasting.Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2026 5:45 amI also have a couple of these left. 1980 Andresen Colheita. Lovely. 92 points.
1994 Taylor Fladgate VP from a half bottle. Superb, but still not fully matured. 93 Points now---more to come.
Both were consumed in casual atmosphere's.

Any Port in a storm!
Re: What have you opened this week?
A couple came over for dinner last night and thoughtfully brought this bottle of Valdouro White Port. For a casual after dinner drink with dessert on a summer evening, it was perfect. Lots of starfruit with a hint of pear and an easy finish. The four of us had no problems drinking the entire bottle along with homemade ice cream and molasses cookies proving once again wonderful enjoyment to be had from a humble bottle. I won't score this---it is not that kind of Port---but it you have a chance to try it/buy it, do!

Budget white Port is so underrated as a summer beverage in so many waysJohn M. wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 8:12 am A couple came over for dinner last night and thoughtfully brought this bottle of Valdouro White Port. Opened a Pocas 30y Tawny over the weekend that I've been working on the past few days. Lovely stuff.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Since we’re talking budget white Ports. I found a couple bottles of Cockburn’s Fine White Port in the cellar. Been there about 5 yrs, I kinda forgot about them. Pretty good with some bottle age. And has been helping me beat this heatwave we’re having mixed with Tonic.

We’ve had a heatwave this week, which has sucked big time. Tonight it’s cooled a few degrees. Which means below 100. I chilled a DR 40 yr “Especial” tawny. OMG, So good!

With spending a chunk of most months in Texas, I’ve really grown to appreciate the summer evenings is cools down to the 60s or 50s in PAAndy Velebil wrote:We’ve had a heatwave this week, which has sucked big time. 1983 Offley Boa Vista VP. It had a touch of TCA upon opening, but it seems to have cleared up after a day. I won a case of this for next to nothing at auction and so far the first three or four bottles have had the same issue. I'm guessing the rest of the bottles will as well, but once it clears, it's a pleasant drinking Port.

Mike, you sure it’s not just bottle stink? TCA doesn’t clear up overtime. It gets worse.Mike J. W. wrote:1983 Offley Boa Vista VP. Re: What have you opened this week?
1827 Villar d'Allen Vintage Port - actually in pretty good condition. I selected the bottle and Tomas opened it and decanted for 45 minutes. Color opened up so much and was a deep orange with loads of ruby highlights. Nice fruit, good acidity and some scores that surprised me. I was less generous, but this was absolutely alive and with fruit still apparent.
1969 Vista Alegre Colheita - this one was chilled and showed beautifully.
1994 Confraria do Vinho do Porto, VP - nice, but nothing special to be honest.

I don't know. It smelled like cardboard / moldy and tasted of it somewhat. Could that still be bottle stink?Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2026 10:44 amMike, you sure it’s not just bottle stink?
