I was just saying elsewhere that Noval LBVs are some of my favorite with some age. Hope that 2016 shows well!Jonathan S wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2026 10:13 pm 2016 Quinta do Noval LBV

The O Galego still shows as "sold out" on their website, but if you click on it, the next page says "back soon". Keep checking and it should show up again soon.A.S. Demka wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 7:19 amI tried to order them as well, but according to their website it's sold out. That is.... I've sent an email to Poças on July 27, expressing my disappointment and ongoing interest in up to 12 bottles (to be shared with two friends) referring to their great Bonificador Tawny. To cut a long story short, a box with twelve bottles arrived on August 3!Glenn E. wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2026 9:46 amSpecifically, Moscatel Galego from which it gets its name. Mostcatel Galego is the Portuguese name for Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains.Mike J. W. wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2026 9:07 am The O Galego 20 y.o. White is part of their FORA DA SÉRIE which are limited edition Ports and Wine. This one is made 100% out of Moscatel grapes.
Andre announced that this was coming on July 18, and I've been waiting for it to finally show up on their website. It looks like it has finally arrived, though it still claims to be sold out. I've pinged Andre to figure out what's going on, as it's clearly available since Mike was able to order some.

O Galego means The Grecian, because this grape - as with virtually all Malvasia grapes - originally came from Greece. Malvasia is, linguistically, a derivative of Monemvasia which was the port from which the Greeks traded grapes with the Portuguese. And that's why the Malvasia grapes are so diverse and not genetically related (there's even a red one) - they're literally just the grapes that came from Monemvasia, Greece.![]()

That's a great purchase, Melis! Roy has tasted it twice and both times he scored it at 95 points. Let us know how it is when you open it.

6 (50cl) bottles of Andresen 10YO White and 2 of Andresen 40YO White to replace stocks drunk over the summer.
I took a bottle of the 10YO with me on vacation to Sicily and shared it with a few of the sommeliers we met. They were really interested and, in turn, shared some really interesting stuff with us.

2016 Andresen LBV in a nice gift box, for all of $18 plus tax at Seabra on Wilson.
Also picked up 1990 Taylor LBV at auction a couple weeks ago - my first birth year port purchase.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Two very nice pickups, Lucas. I like Andresen's LBV's (as you know) and $18 is a fantastic price. I'll have to stop at Seabra the next time I'm in Newark.
The Taylor LBV's even though they're filtered hold up well. That one should drink nicely.
