Dear Mr. Hersh,
I have kept a bottle of cockburns fine ruby wine unopened for twenty years.
Will it still be drinkable.
Many thanks.

I'd reply with one of these options:Alan C wrote:Roy,
Although that is funny....how did you reply???

1. Open it and find out;
2. Of course not - it's a Cockburn's Ruby, it wasn't drinkable when it was bought and two decades would have done it no favours;
3. Yes, there was a story about a man drinking petrol recently, this should be about the same.
I'm telling you - Port is from Portugal.

Based on the amount of sediment in that last old bottle of Founder's Reserve I had a week ago, I'd say open it and drink it.....of course that cupboard over the stove is not a good place for a wine cellar
