1963 Mackenzie Vintage Port

This bottle was the first of any Mackenzie I have ever drunk, or owned. From the superb 1963 vintage it was bottled in Oporto and packed in an individual protective straw sleeve... (something I've never seen on Port past the 40's).
The color was excellent, solid ruby and garnet.
The body was medium-thick and the nose was of citrus, maybe lemon and dull alcohol.
The Mackenzie was very "middle of the road" as far taste was concerned. A good "average" Port, with lemon, grapefruit-like undertones and a small amount of woodiness, perhaps oak. A short finish, and after 2 hours of decanting a little flat yet still surprisingly enjoyable for a shipper I had never before heard of!

Thanks for the note! I have some of this in my cellar and I was interested to know how it was developing.

Crack a bottle (or I should say open) :shock: and let us know...I'd be interested in hearing about what you think! I thought the Mackenzie was VERY drinkable!

Drink it quick though, as it opens fast then goes down hill slowly. It has a smaller window than other ports of the same vintage. That is why initially, I thought it was better than it was in the end. Over all, a pretty good meaty port.
