1960 Taylor Vintage Port

This 1960 Taylor definitely an "off" year was bottled by GF Grant & Co. Ltd in the UK in 1962 according to the the labeled cork.
It's color was rusty, a bit brown with amber orange, and sherry.
It had a medium alcohol scent, a bit minty and peppery, and was thin and tawny-like in the glass.
Initially it tasted a little hot, with underlying hints of honey and butterscotch. After 2 hours of decanting it began to open up nicely. The flavors were of spice, and caramel yet also slightly vegetal. Overall I would say it was past it's prime yet still decent with a 14 second finish.

All the 1960s I have tasted in the last few years have been drying out. Drink up.

I agree with Julian. There are few 1960s that have much gas left in the tank at this point. Drink up!

However, I would not call 1960 an "off vintage" as the bottles I had early in my Port drinking years were pretty darn good. They just did not have the staying power of the big guns like 1963. Now 1961 was an OFF vintage.
