1998 Ramos Pinto LBV Port

Rich violet color; dense with a light oily sheen. Lush mouth feel. Really dark and has a caramel alcohol nose. Very peppery and refined with watermelon notes detected. Nose still exhibits acetone notes but should blow off. Fine sediment in strainer; this LBV should have a grand aging life. This is a great unfiltered LBV that could be one of the best on the market. Shelf price was $13.99 USD. 89 Points.

Great bargain! I would like to taste the LBVs of Ramos Pinto. But here in Germany, I would have to pay double price

I was very fond of this in a recent tasting. I found the dark toned/tobacco-like tones very delectable as it brought such a beautiful contrast to the sweetness. Unfortunately it is not available at our monopoly.

I bought all they had in Alaska this spring as I agree with you that it is the best LBV on the market.....or at least my market! Had really lush tannins for an LBV.

Still one bottle left.

This is one that you guys have spurred me to try to source out. Although Ramos Pinto is not a brand I see often here in Edmonton, I will definitely pick some up if I can track some down. I like trying all the unfiltered LBVs... they really seem to be head and shoulders about the filtered.

And for $14USD... steal of a deal!

This is a great bargain. I sampled this one along with a few of the Ramos Pinto vintages at a recent wine tasting event and found it almost on par.

Then again, if you sample so many ports at one time, its hard to tell. They all tasted great.
