Who's taking more spaces

Who is your Port/wine producers that is accounting for the most places in your cellar and why?

For me, obviously it is Niepoort and most of the bottles where brought back from Portugal unfortunately. Mainly because he is making good wines and Port and I like to drink both. It is taking roughly 7% of my cellar space.

Good question and like you, mine is Niepoort also. I love his VP's, and especially his Colheita's and dry wines. Niepoort is by far what I have the most of in my cellar and makes up about 15% of cellar space.

The producer most represented in my cellar is Chateau de Beaucastel at 12.98%. For Port, the most represented producer is Fonseca at 5.87%.

For me it is Quinta do Noval, covering roughly 33 % of my cellar. Niepoort and Dow are second with 9% each.

The producer most represented is d'Oliveira with 12% of my cellar. I like their style of madeira, they are readily available from RWC, and they are cheaper than MWC.

The port produce most represented is Warre with 9% of the cellar. I like their style and started with a case of the 1994.

In my cellar? Dow. Second? Grahams. Can't seem to break away from the majors. Porto Rocha tried to slip in but got pushed aside by Quinta do Noval.

And the most popular port we sell? Dow. Might be because our site is alphabetical.

Dow is the biggest port shipper for me, a healthy 22%. I just love the style but I have no doubt availability and keen pricing have helped me down this road.

Without counting, I'd say Croft or Ramos Pinto are the most common brands in my cellar, with Ferreira right behind.

Looks like Fonseca, followed by Taylor, followed by Noval. Can't have enough of the 1985 Fonseca...

Taylor's for me in regards to Port. Love that grip.
For other wines, probably riesling; Gunderlock, Hirtzberger, Trimbach. Red wines, Ridge.

At the moment it is Offley (17 btls of the 2003 Vintage + 2x 30 YOT) followed by Fonseca (a case of 2001 [wedding anniversary] that was picked up on discount.)

I am waiting to make a fairly serious move on a further couple cases of 2003 as it is my son's birth year (first child) so these producers could change fairly soon.

If I had unlimited cash (reasonable, aside from NNs) I would probably be most stocked with:
Taylor, Fonseca, Noval and Grahams.

Hey, maybe THAT would make a good threadtoo...

In terms of volume, for me it would be Grahams with cases of 2003, 2000, 1994, and 1977, along with lesser amounts of 97, 91, 85, 83, 70, 66, and 63. Plus some Malvedos. Second in volume might be Vesuvio, driven by 1994, 1997, and 2000, or maybe Warres, driven by 97, 94, 85, and 70.

A sudden fall-off to Dow 8 %
Niepoort 5%

Ten other houses make up the rest .

I have a total of 277 bottles including mags , 750's and 375's.

There was a "why" component to the question which most of us overlooked from Frederick. Taylor and Graham's and Fonseca are my favorite styles of port. The Taylor has a greater number because I have a lot of 92 for my son's birth year.

It is great to have you back with us, but I hoped that Port season would give you a chance to return to our midst. Let me know if you come up to visit Nancy this winter!

I am still not positive which producer I have the most of. I guess if Nacional is included as Noval that would then be my #1, otherwise it would have to be Taylor and Fonseca.

For Madeira there is no question that it is D'Oliveiras significantly ahead of Barbeito although I love both.
