Burmester Colheitas

I've got a 1940 Colheita from Burmester that I hope to work up the guts to open within the month. Picked it up from them on my last (and only) trip to Portugal.

I actually had the chance to have a taste of this at the port house and it was so impressive I checked the price on my international blackberry and then went ahead and bought a bottle and thank god it survived the trip home!

A very very solid bottle you got there and a good thing you bought one. I do like it....a lot!

I had the 1940 Colheita along with the 40YO Kopke, 1967 Colheita Kopke and 20YO Calem a while ago with a friend from sogevinus (António Montenegro) and man, those were some of the best Ports i've ever had. The 40 from burmester and the 67 from kopke were impressive in al senses.

Any idea when we will see more Burmester in the United States? I can't believe the wonderful 10 year tawny is so hard to find...

I have had many Burmester colheitas and found them good value however they have increased a lot in the last three years.My oldest 1900 my youngest one of the 90's
