There was a weathered burgundy color to the 1963 Ferreira. It had a light colored edge in the glass and a fruit mixed with alcohol smell to the nose. It was medium bodied in the mouth and primarily tasted like strawberries and mandarin oranges with a finish similar to sweet lemonade. This was not the '63 I had hoped for, yet was still a decent Port just a little acidic for my palate.
This port was interesting. Upon the first glass it was fresh on the nose, then a couple of glass lather, after looking tired, it got back on track with the same freshness.
The nose was simple but enjoyable with sweet candied fruits along with floral and minth notes. The palate is sweet, acidity is balanced, though the flavours profile is looking tired with oxydised notes which leads to alcohol presence on the citrus dominated finish. 16/20
