1955 Burmester Colheita Port

Post by Glenn E. »

2009 Port Gala
Friday, January 30th, Colheita tasting
Flight 2 - 1953 Royal Oporto, 1955 Burmester, 1957 Porto Rocha, 1963 Niepoort

1955 Burmester Colheita
bottled in 1985

Very faintly cloudy with a good tawny color, but my glass contained the dregs of the bottle due to an unfortunate mishap in which I somehow managed to spill my first pour despite this glass being in the center of the middle row of glasses on the placemat.

Good VA on the nose, if that makes any sense to anyone else. Also a very pleasant floral note that we couldn't quite identify.

Dark caramel with just the right amount of citrus in the mouth, followed up by an intriguing minerality.

A very strong showing, but not quite strong enough.
