Skiing
I wonder how many Port enthusiasts also share the love of skiing?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Re: Skiing
I spend more time snowboarding than skiing these days. I'm headed for Colorado over Spring Break to go boarding with my brother, in fact!

Re: Skiing
nope, not me. I once did "langlaufen", on skis through the woods. That was fun. However, i dont see myself together with a few thousand tourists skiing off a mountain, then go back up that mountain again and do it all over.
And.....its to freaking cold also !!!

Snowboarding here. And upon occasion I take my split snowboard into the backcountry to get away from the thousands of people.
Glenn, let us know when you're going to be around, in particular if you're going to Vail, BC, Breck, Keystone, or A-Basin. We might be able to meet you up there.

Eric, as a matter of fact I'm going to be in the area over Spring break. I don't have the full details with me, but I'll PM them to you later.Eric Menchen wrote:Snowboarding here. And upon occasion I take my split snowboard into the backcountry to get away from the thousands of people.

I learned to ski at Breckenridge oh so many years ago. :)

Re: Skiing
Breck is, IMHO, the best place to learn. For a while I was tired of it, but I've since rediscovered and enjoyed some of its more advanced terrain. For better or worse, there are also new lifts there.

Re: Skiing
I'm a big fan of skiing!!! In fact, up until a few years ago I was a ski instructor at a local mountain and I also ski raced in my free time - prior to that I worked as a rep for two different (at different times) major ski companies. I must say that having a glass a port while up in the mountains is a perfect match. Next week I'm heading to Telluride and you can be sure that I'm bringing a nice bottle of port along!

Re: Skiing
I'm a ski guy. I put in about 25-30 days a year. Wish I could do more, but it's all I can do to get that many days on the slopes. Mostly in Tahoe, but also an week in Canada or Colorado almost every year.

Speed skating is my sport. But no chance for that here.

And I guess just an ice rink doesn't work since it isn't real speed skating oval size. I ask because you could hop over to Dubai.Ronald Wortel wrote:Speed skating is my sport. But no chance for that here.

They have an indoor ski slope in Dubai as well. It doesn't look particularly challenging.

Re: Skiing
There is actually an ice rink here as well, but I've never been as it's a hocky rink just as the one in Dubai. Those are not really suitable for speed skating. I've seen the ski slope in Dubai: it's immense. From what I've heard it has the only indoor black piste in the world. But the best thing about it is that there is a bar where they serve alcohol. :)Eric Menchen wrote:And I guess just an ice rink doesn't work since it isn't real speed skating oval size.
