Had a glass of this at a wine bar last night to celebrate surviving my second bike race of the season. It was a very windy race and it was strung out gutter to gutter in echelons during the cross wind parts. That caused a fair amount of crashes so I was happy to survive with all my skin still intact. Although I did manage to get into a couple breakaways, they didn't last as the wind was just punishing and the pack caught us. But I'm sure you'd rather hear about the Port...
This was opened the night before according to the owner. He poured a very healty glass, like almost to the rim of the Port glass. And I was happy that he actually used a correctly shaped glass! It was to dark to tell the color exactly but it wasn't a deep purple normally associated with a very young SQVP. A light/medium bodied Port that exhibited some young plums and a lot of chocolate on the back palate. While it has plenty of searing acidity that balances out the young fruit, there is a noticable lack of tannins for such a young Port. I did like the medium length finish as that chocolate carried its way through and gave it a nice little boost. I'd say this will be a decent short term drinker that will do well over the next 10-12 years. 87 points.
