1992 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Kurt Wieneke »

1st night: Fairly dark color. Initially there are prunes, cigar box, and a hint of briar emanating from the decanter. On the palate, a bit too much fire and fairly one-dimensional. 3rd night: This has settled down into black plums and semi-sweet chocolate on the nose, along with good integration of spirit and tannin. Although a pretty good sipper, it's merely good and not great. 87 pts

I have in my collection both this wine and the 92 SW LBV and I cannot tell much difference between the two. I agree with your assessment of this port.

Hi Richard, good to see you back online again. I'm going to try a 1991 SW soon and see if it performs any better.
