1968 Oscar Quevedo ‘Garrafeira Particular’ Colheita Port
Drank on 09 October 2008 at The Bell offline. A slightly cloudy optic, medium red with a hint of brown at the rim. The nose was not as friendly as I had been expecting, with an overriding mass of volatile acidity doing their best to suppress the dry dates and walnuts. However, the mouthfeel was more impressive, with waves of sweet dry figs and dates. There is sufficient acidity to keep it tasting fresh and a hint of alcohol on the finish. A very enjoyable Colheita. 89/100.

I had a different take on this one.
Served blind. While the nose had some offputting aromas mixed in with nutmeg, the palate really shined on this one. I loved the complexity of spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, maple, good acidity, some still noticable tannins, and a solid long finish really made this one stand out to me. I gave it 95 points and would love to try it again some day. A wonderful Port!

Funny, my notes are cloudy and with a slightly unpleasant nose, the palate was MUCH better. I really liked the way it showed, once I got past the nose and the finish was outstanding, long and pure and delicious. Paraphrasing as I will do an official note soon. But I split the difference with you both and was at exactly 92 points.

Was a bit of a funky nose, but the palate was totally different. Don't know when it was bottled, or for how long, but I think it was more bottle stink that would blow away with time. it didn't hurt the palate at all though, which I was thankful for.
