NV Warre's Heritage Ruby Port

Post by Richard Henderson »

This is another of the NV ports I have been trying this winter . This may not be quite as good as the Cockburn's or Taylor's NV's I have posted on recently but it is very good and maybe the best deal. $13.99 less 15% case discount. 12 bottles of good ruby port for around $150  :salute:
It does have a fine nose with lots of overripe dark berry fruit. A hint of nutmeg . A pale ruby color but brilliant in the sunlight of this fine March day. I finished off a small amount from a bottle opened a few days ago. It was standing up well. This fresh bottle is nicely balanced. Not hot at all. Nice midpalate and decent finish. I would call this a great "recession" port.
We have been furnishing the communion wine for a newly formed local Episcopal Church. The port industry really should salute us Anglicans because we will not use any thing but genuine port for communion and a portion of the last bottle of this Warre's I opened was consecrated for communion. I get to take the left over bottle home. It may not be consecrated but it has been good for my soul!
