U.S. producers of 'port-style' and fortified wines seek descriptive and legal identity
Wow, naming names and shooting straight as an arrow ...

I think this will make for an interesting discussion between purists and those that are more open to the idea.

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

I am in the group who support tight control on the use of the word Port (or port) and believe it should only be used to describe the fortified wine from the demarcated region in the Douro. Anything else just isn't Port. Never was and never will be. For me it is the same as the use of the words Champagne, Bordeuax, Rioja etc. These guys just need to get over themselves and find a word that describes whatever it is that they produce. It isn't Port.

The most amusing thing about the article to me is the headline.
"When Your Brand Is Banned."
Um... it isn't your brand, never was your brand, and you've been using it illicitly for decades if not longer. You're like a bunch of little kids who got their hands caught in the cookie jar, and you're trying to act all grown up about it and pretend to accept your punishment but it's very clear that you don't think you were doing anything wrong in the first place.
