Since the Justin Obtuse didn't exactly fire on all cylinders for us, I grabbed this out of the wine cellar. Popped and poured about 1/2 hour ago, so I'll add some more TN's later. But since I was heckled into posting something now, I'll acquiesce with this preliminary TN. As one person put it, "It doesn't taste like a condiment served at Denny's, which is a good thing." I had to laugh at that one... Nice deep purple color, without being squid ink. The nose is very primary plums, blackberries, and some spice in the background. A big bodied LBV and the first thing I notice is the massive tannins and dark fruit that just take over the entire palate. I'd never guess this was an LBV based on the bold fruit and tannins. Lots of acidity takes over on the front finish that is then overwhelmed by more tannins. I must give Dirk Niepoort big kudo's on this LBV Port, as it's an LBV that could easily be mistaken for a VP. 93 points.

Well said all around.
