You are a serious wine geek when ...

Post by Roy Hersh »

As they say, "if the shoe fits ... "

This should be fun, I'll start with my favorite trio of which I have been found guilty as charged:

* After opening a bottle to enjoy with your spouse over dinner at home, you whip out your notebook to pen a tasting note. :help:
More serious ... you do this in front of them while in a great restaurant! :Naughty:

* You are caught red-handed, unconsciously swirling the contents of ...
your water glass.

* The waiter in a nice restaurant comes over and ceremoniously presents the cork and pours your wine and you sniff it and without even tasting it, give him ... "the nod." :salute:

Ok, now it's your turn, you probably have at least one good one! 8--)

... you choose the food to acompany a wine that you found in the wine menu and that caught your attention. ("Lets 's try this Dürkheimer Spielberg Riesling Auslese... ah, and yes, I think I'll have the Pollock-Suffle with Tagliatelle to go with the wine...")
Happens all the time

I don't think you are a wine geek if you do it. Some people can do it just pretending they know about wine...

I'll give you my preferred:

 To give a bottle of wine to your wife while celebrating your weeding anniversary

When you name your child after a wine brand :D

when you collect cork,labels.. and you frame them

when you spend more money on wine than food

when you photographs your bottle

when you read wine books before going to bed

when you try to identify what actors are drinking in the movies or to approve or not if they are drinking in appropriate glasses

Funny topic :)

By which I assume you mean the wine, and not the cork.

How about: you fly to distant cities just to get together with other geeks and drink Port.

Luc,

Is that how you refer to Sean these days? I did not know he was so fragile ... as is porcelain.

Speaking of Sean ... where the heck has that scoundrel disappeared to this time?

He is probably out there hunting. Beavers of course! :scholar:

Yeah, I'm bummed about that. At least I got married in a good year, but I'm going to have to wait for a while for those to come into their prime.

I mentioned that to a friend, and she pointed out that Taylor was a very common name in the 1990s. And I replied, "Yeah, but tell that to her sisters Fladgate and Yeatman."
